So, as you can probably guess by the title of this topic, I will be graduating from college in exactly one week from today! I’m so excited, but also nervous too! I’m excited because this is a major accomplishment, and I truly believe that getting an education is one of the best things a person can do for themselves. It’s something you’ll always have, and something you can always be proud of. Even though there were days (especially during my senior year) where I just wanted to say screw it and give up, I was determined to keep going! I was a business administration/marketing major at probably one of the most difficult business schools in the area. To give you an example, I had to write an entire strategic analysis of a company, which ended up being 161 pages. I finished it on Thursday, which is great because even though it isn’t really due until Tuesday, I got it out of the way and I don’t have to worry and stress about it this weekend! Last semester I had to write an analysis of a country, which ended up being about 54 pages. So, now you have an idea of how challenging the business program is at my school! And, if anyone is interested in learning about Dell Inc. or Canada just let me know. Lol they’ll probably be the most boring pieces of writing you’ll ever read.
As difficult and challenging as my senior year was, in a way I think it was actually good for me. It’s significantly helped to increase my confidence in my abilities. For instance, I feel like I can go out into the real world now and achieve almost anything I wish if I just work at it and believe in myself. Does that make Sense? I mean, if I can get through one of the most challenging schools and survive, everything else should be manageable! Lol.
But, I guess I also feel nervous too, because now it’s time to start finding a job. I still am not 100% sure about what I want to do, and I don’t have a lot of work experience. I know the career center at my school is really good about helping students find internships and jobs, so now that all of my school work is mostly out of the way I can begin to focus on that. I know there’s a career assessment you can take to help determine what careers you would be best suited for. So I’ll definitely do that next week!
Anyway, enough about me, I want to here from you! If you’ve already graduated from college, how did you feel about graduation? Were you excited, nervous? Did you know what you wanted to do? Did you have something already set up after graduation?
And, if there’s anyone who’s getting ready to graduate like me, how do you feel about it? Do you know what you want to do after graduation? Do you intend to continue on to graduate school or do you want to start working and earn money?

And to those who will be returning to college in the fall, I just want to take a moment to offer some support and encouragement. I know it isn’t easy, but you can get through it if you just give it your best effort and don’t give up! It will be completely worth it! :) I want you to feel the level of achievement and confidence I now feel! :)

Business and marketing? Take it from someone who did it all wrong: You are doing it right.
And, blow this next part off as old-guy talk if you want, as I did at your age, but the truth is, nobody can take your accomplishment away from you. You can lose a business, get laid off a job, make a bad bet in risk analysis at work, but your accomplishments never get demoted or take a pay cut. It's yours forever, so congratulations.
Again, they can never take that away from you.

Congrats!!!!
You know, I graduated with my first degree in 05, which was a Bachelors in Recording Industry from Middle Tennessee State University focusing on the business side of the music industry. I couldn't get a job with it even though I had buddies that graduated with me that were getting publishing deals and such, so that was a little disheartening. I knew what I wanted as far as a career went. That was the reason why I chose that particular major. Now, when I flunked out of the vending program in TN back in 06, I decided that I didn't have a choice but to go back to school and try my hand at something that was more secure as far as landing a job goes. I thought that based on my other experiences and college courses, that English would be the best thing to go into, along with minors in Education and Spanish. Well, I graduated in 2010 with my second Bachelors, and went straight into my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction. And, after all of that, I graduated back on the 6th of this month with my Masters degree, an you know, I'm right back where I was in 05 when I got my Recording Industry degree, looking for a job and unsure that it will be in my field of expertise. During all three times of completing my degrees, I didn't feel as much of a sense of accomplishment, as I felt a sense of "well crap!, now what? All of this work will be for nothing if I don't land a job." For me, college was a means to an end, a job, preferably, one that I actually like. My heart's always going to be in creating music, because singing an writingsongs is what I've wanted to do since I was like ten or eleven, but these other things that I've gotten the chance to learn about more in depth, such as education and English/Education, are also extremely valuable, and will hopefully pay my bills much easier than the music thing will. I know I'm rambling, but that's how I was feeling wen I graduated. It's a very big accomplishmnt for anyone to graduate whether or not the job scene is friendly to you or not. I'm telling myself that as much as I'm telling you. It sounds like that business school that you went through was about a trillion times harder than the work load of all three of my degrees combined. So, to close here, I'm proud of you, and good luck with the job search. And just remember, we're all in this together. I've got a great friend who just graduated with her Masters in Social Work this month whose having trouble finding a job as well. So it's tough out there, but we've all just gotta keep our heads up and something will work out one way or another. Just celebrate your accomplishments because it's true that no one will ever be able to take them away from you or any of us who walked across that stage and received that diploma.
